chokethewind: (HIMYM // WAIT FOR IT IT'S)
I haven't talked about fandom in forever! I realized that while I was dozing and for some reason it wouldn't leave me alone, the things I've been reading/watching the past few months, so!  Here they are:

- Anime/Japanese thing wise .... pretty much zilch.  I've stayed current and hip with the KH fandom and the new KH games, but as I haven't played Birth By Sleep, I haven't really ventured into looking at fic for it.  You would think for someone who organizes anime conventions that I would be more in tune with anime... but not really.  I mean, I'm pretty good at what's hip with the rest of the world, I just don't watch/read it lately.  I fail.

-TV shows.  Now that's a whole new matter entirely.  I banged through three seasons of Skins (will get to the fourth eventually).  Banged through all six seasons of Weeds.  Am on episode 4 of the Walking Dead.  Misfits is my next adventure.  Watched all of Matt Smith's run as the Doctor (I love Matt Smith, I cannot deny).  It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is on my backburner, as it's been demanded by my friends that I watch it.  Will be marathoning all three seasons of Arrested Development on the 12th.  Am current on Glee and How I Met Your Mother.  I did horrible and only saw two episodes of this last season of White Collar, which I need to fix because Matt Bomer is beautiful.

- I watched the Human Centipede. It was not as terrifying as I was anticipating.  Have seen Harry Potter, Paranormal Activity 2, and Tangled lately in the theatre.  Watched Love Actually repeatedly in the past few weeks.  Have watched How to Train Your Dragon repeatedly as well - that movie is my life.

- Musically, it's been all My Chemical Romance and Courtney Marie Andrews lately.  I went to a Margot and the Nuclear So and So's show last month and couldn't get in since it was sold out, so my sister and I camped in the parking lot and listened to from the car.  Despite it being freezing, it was actually pretty awesome. No obnoxious idiots to compete with.  Dear and the Headlights broke up, which has been bumming me out.  I missed a Pierce the Veil show this last Sunday and I'm kicking myself over it.  They'll be back in Tucson in January, so I'm hoping (foolishly) I might get to that show.  But mostly, just MCR and Courtney Marie.  You should listen, girl sounds like an angel.  Don't let the folk/bluegrass label fool you.  Start with Oak Creek.

- Bookwise, I've been pretty tame.  I'm on and off again reading the Locke and Key series - it's a graphic novel series written by Joe Hill, who is Stephen King's son and wrote the only book that's scared me in recent memory, Heart Shaped Box.  I'm still really obsessed with the Hunger Games series, which I guess you could say is my biggest fandom at the moment.  I was mostly re-reading things I've had, though I made a decent effort at The Bell Jar, before abandoning it for my current love, The Passage, by Justin Cronin.  It was widely reviewed and raved about in Time and I had a half off coupon at Borders the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, so I had to grab it.  It's been fun so far, I've still got about 400 pages left.

- I've been writing in This Frenzied State.  It's slow coming, but it feels so good.

Sorry for the double post.  It's 6am and I can't sleep.

If you ever call me, please, for the love of all things good and pretty, do not tell me you want to be "departuring" from Los Angeles to DFW, and then continuously use it throughout the entire drawn out, painful, annoying conversation.

Seriously woman, how many times do I have to emphasize departing?   My head.

Anyway, all the input on that last matter was really sweet.  I'm personally in the Roxas's camp, but I don't think there's one right answer.  It's English, after all.  But it was cool to see what everyone else thought.  Since I do not commonly have these types of conversations with people who I see daily.  Though I guess that would be kind of cool too.  Though I didn't realize I could vote in my own poll so I just did right now and the Roxas's win.  The rest of you can suck it!  ;)

My friend at work booked a ticket for Tommy Lasorta.  The same person who booked a ticket for Snoop Dogg. I want to kick her in the shins.

If you're a fan of indie, folkish, ambient-ish music, you should check out the Honey Trees. I love them.

I'm about to get slightly nerdy.[Poll #1482183][Poll #1482183]I don't really think that was the best way to word that question, but hopefully you get my point.

I got a review that went something like "Though there's one little error that everyone makes, but it kinda irks me. There were a few times that you typed Roxas's when it's supposed to be Roxas'. It's no biggy, I've seen everyone make that mistake, but I just thought I'd point it out. :3"

Now I love helpful reviews as much as the next person, and if it had been about the stylistic choices, typos, characterization, plot, whatever, I'd probably think on it, because that's the way I roll bro.  But I don't know how to feel about this.  Theoretically it's a review about grammar; however, I don't think that it's right.  Being uh, the person that I am, I dug out my grammar books and writer's handbook (one of those books they make you get for freshman comp class that I kept because it's just smarter that way and I love it). My grammar books weren't much help, as they'd much rather prattle on coordinators and adverbials unfunfunf, I love you grammar books, and how you talk dirty to me but my handbook provided this rule which I vaguely remembered: If the noun is singular, and ends in -s or an s sound, add -'s.  Exp: Lois's sister spent last year in India.

Now I think it's pretty obvious that Roxas is a singular noun and thus would qualify for the -'s usage, as it is in the example.  This website seems to agree, and I am considering marrying The Apostrophe Protection Society.  Honestly.  Who comes up with such brilliant things? In any case, I feel more than justified in using Roxas's because that, to me, just looks better.  There was also a time in my life when I thought I was more a fan of prescriptive grammar.  That was a dark time in my life, as I usually smack around the English language like I possess the hand of god, and have grudgingly become more of a descriptive grammar person.  Though in this case, I seem to be following prescriptive rules anyway.

Anyway, what do you guys think?  This poll's not so much about KH as it's about a lot of things, but Roxas was the one in question, and I think it's a shining example, so.
chokethewind: (Sports // Anything you can do)
Go Angels.

I think this series was so much more heartbreaking than last year's because we seemed to have a fantastic rhythm early in the season.  We lost Manny, which we all thought was going to devastate the team, but Juan Pierre stepped up.  We had pitching talents like Kershaw who did fine regular season. Andre Ethier gets better and better every season.  But the Phillies were just a better team, and we choked like we usually do.  We peaked too early.

Oh well.  There's always next year.  My family has decided that whoever wins in the Yankees-Angels series is the team we'll support.  I hate the Yankees, but I cannot forgive the Phillies.  Mostly because I want to knife Shane Victorino in the fucking face.

Basketball season's here.  Let's go Lakers. Maybe we'll repeat, and then go on to threepeat like those magical early 2000's. We can dream.

I haven't written fluff in an extremely long time, but I am now. Days made me want something cute and fluffy. The horror.

I missed Glee because I was watching the Phillies rush the field while simultaneously fervently wishing the fireworks would go haywire and kill them all.  Was it a good episode?
chokethewind: (Firefly- Can't take it from me)
I have been working on this goddamn story for the past week and nothing I do makes me happy. I picked up four hours tomorrow morning and then I have two hours between starting my regular shift and goddamnit, I am getting coffee, sitting in McDonald's, listening to Audrye Sessions, AND AM GOING TO MAKE SOMETHING FREAKING WORK.  /rage

On Tuesday since it's lopped off work day where I have more freedom in the morning I will be attempting to dye my cape in the backyard.  This will either end A) beautifully, B) painfully, or C) with my dog ending up purple colored and not the cape, Idek.  I guess I could put him in his pen, but I don't know if I'd rather see him cry until I was finished, or purple.  The novelty of a purple dog is appealing, but somehow I don't think very humane.  Or it's just AWESOME.  I can't buy the wig until next paycheck but I've been staring at it dreamily just about every day lately.

My Dodgers are coming down to the post-season wire (October is such an awesome, fun month, filled with playoff games and Halloween) and I talked to James Worthy the other day and nearly freaked out on the phone.  For those who don't know (which is everyone), James Worthy was a Lakers player (that's basketball).  He retired in 1994 and I was five years old and my earliest memories are watching Lakers games and cheering for Worthy.  It's funny the things we remember from being little.  But then again, my entire family consists of psycho Lakers fans, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised. In any case, it made my day.

I keep trying to mess around with my layout and I've got it mostly the way I want it, but I'm failing at finding a header and since I'm far too lazy to steal buy Photoshop like a nice person, I just yoinked someone else's.  Need to fix that.

I have been doing crochet at work since [livejournal.com profile] mekkisry  showed me how.  I'm either working on A) a scarf, B) a race car track, or C) a mishapen lump.  It's supposed to be A, but the other two options are also showing really, really likely at the moment.

chokethewind: (PTV-I would)
When they say it caused flight delays, they mean OUR flights.

Well that was a goddamn headache.  Jesus Christ people, I did not spill the mercury, and we didn't shut the goddamn airport down, that was the TSA, not American.  Oi vey.

For those reading This Frenzied State, a note. Also, an attempt at floaty summer ghosts, ahoy. )

Don't really know where I'm going with this.  All I know for sure is that it involves A) lots of old junk, B) summer nights, and C) horrible dialogue.  Huzzah!

All I've been doing lately has been going to work, watching zombie movies, and writing vague, half formed attempts at floaty, not so good things.  It's almost September.  It's almost fall.  I always find good stuff in the fall.  Come on tradition.  Hang in there

chokethewind: (Roxas&Axel- I'm going to eat)
Last night was really weird and very awkward. I think I'll be sticking to the house for awhile.

It's Akuroku Day! Idek, my flist hasn't exploded too badly. I love Axel/Roxas. There are no words. They complete me. I actually could probably come up with a few hundred ways why I love them so much, but I won't waste time (and space).

I have comments to reply to and fics to read and lately I feel like I have no time for them. Though clearly I have time for awkward.

In any case, as I have nothing new to share for this special day (haha), I'm posting the original version of Everything and Nothing at Once. A couple of people asked for it, so I figured I'd stick it up.

Other than that... I have nothing new. I am boring.

You’d never guessed that he’d killed someone here, really. The stain was just like any other stain on this sun-soaked roof and though he had scanned the crowd, he hadn’t seen a zebra striped monster waltzing around seeking his blood. There were a lot of others who wanted his blood, passionately, but none of them were zebra striped. Not that he was being picky or anything. )

Just totally did a fic that wasn't KH.  It's been... forever.  It's on my FFN account if anyone...cares but I don't think there's anyone on my flist into the fandom.  THREE GUESSES AND THE ICON TOTALLY DOESN'T GIVE IT AWAY.

12 hour shift tomorrow, whatup!

Other than that, I need to edit stuff, and clean my room, and my car, and count my pennies.  Penny counting: srs bznss.

I have no idea what I'm talking about anymore.  24 days until Lydia.  So.  Stoked.
chokethewind: (Roxas&Axel- I'm going to eat)
I should be doing something productive.  I'm trying to work on what I'm working on.

Like that made any sense.

Whatever, I wrote a drabble you can see here.

It is 238 words of complete nothing!  Nothing! NOTHING!

I have Luke and Axel at [livejournal.com profile] a_facility  now.  Does that equal productive?

Also, I did bake the cookies.  They are downstairs.  Still on the fence if I should take them to our new neighbors or not. I don't know how to tell them I'm not trying to poison their children without sounding like I really am.  My mom says they'll think I'm a freak.  Other people think it would be a nice gesture full of good will!  I'm more on the "they'll think I'm a freak" side, but Idk.

I also don' t know how it happens but every other song on my iTunes shuffle is Lydia and that is utterly fantastic.

chokethewind: (Riku-I know)
Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] caseyvalhalla .  Deal bitches.

This was interesting.  I don't have much to go on for it but I wanted to try it anyway.  At least it kind of summed up how much and what I wrote this year. >.<
chokethewind: (Banner- I a monster)
I found the clementine oranges I was so desperately seeking.

I forget why I was so desperately seeking them.  They taste just like oranges. But with a more supple peel!  Complete with 80% vitamin C!  Made to keep you going and keep your body healthy and strong!  Clementines and edamame, part of this complete breakfast!

I think I only have one tag to sum up this nonsense.

eta: I need someone to read what I'm writing, since you all fail at adequately telling me if Roxas and Axel should get it on after tequila.  You don't have to read all of it, just some of it would be fine.  It's obviously KH and it's AU.  It's fifty thousand words right now and I have no idea how long it's going to go on for.  I have a tendency to ramble.  But intellectually ramble.  Doesn't have to be a thorough beta at all, but another person reading this would probably be helpful.  The concept's a little on the dramatic side I've been told, but I'll be posting something fluffy by the end of the week so if you want to wait and see the fluffy before seeng the not so fluffy, that's fine too.  >.<

And damnit, now I need a new tag. Fail.

eta2: I've been trying to write this fucking thing for two hours because I wanted it finished by the morning.  Can't do it.  Faaaail.
chokethewind: (Roxas&Axel- Memory)
I made my first pot of coffee today.  I was so proud of myself.  And then promptly realized there's a reason I hardly ever make coffee and that's because I'm not very fond of it at all.

Eh.  I've just been tired lately.  Not getting enough sleep but I'm used to that.  I have Research Essay due on Monday that's supposed to be seven pages long.  Haven't started it yet.  Not that I'm scared.  I'm not exactly scared of Research Essay.  I'm under the opinion I could argue zombies are way cooler than vampires (which they are) and still get away with it.  Oh school.  Don't ever be so easy on me again~

I've been working on something lately.

And this takes place about 43thousand words into it.  What do I ramble about the first 42,999 words?  Fuck if I know.

chokethewind: (Roxas&Axel- Memory)

Wordle.net is damn sweet.

I took a word out because of a character I'm probably characterizing wrong, so I didn't want his name to be tarnished. Apparently all those little words are making a story. GUESS WHAT IT'S ABOUT AND YOU GET A COOKIE. :D

But yea. Idk.

Title: Dust and Glass Streets (2/2)
Rating: R
Word Count: 5, 078
Characters: Roxas, Axel, Demyx
Warnings: Swearing, character death
Summary: Whoever hires waiters for the graveyard shift is mentally unstable.  That's what Roxas thinks.  When he meets Axel, that is. (AU)
Author's Note:  I met an ambulance driver at my work two months ago.  It took me awhile to figure out what I wanted to say about that.

The inspiration and title came from the song "A Story for Supper" by the band Lydia.  I've uploaded and you can download the demo version here-- if you like what you hear, check them out.  They are amazing.

ONE

Roxas’s picture had been subtly changing—now it sprouted to well over seven feet, grew fangs, and from its back sprang leathery wings. Axel x 2. Axelzilla. The Bride of Axel. Axel: Large and in Charge. Axel just wasn’t some harmless schizophrenic who would cost society millions—he was a full-fledged lunatic. )

Not for the first time Roxas considered throwing his fist in Demyx’s face. Every time this particular urge struck him, however, he would remember that Demyx talked smart but was too much of a girl to actually fight back much and what was the point of punching something that wouldn’t fight back?  )

TWO.

... I'm going to find a layout that I like even if it kills me.

Wtf, heat.  ;__;

Drabble fic I wrote last night: (I am a fake cut, fwee)

The challenge was Ink.  ..... there's really only one way to go when you have a challenge like that.  I'm a banner maker for that comm now, as well.  FWEE PHOTOSHOP SKILLZ NEED PRACTICIN.  Blrgh, I'm unintelligent today.

chokethewind: (Roxas- There was light)

Right, so it's.... weekly drabble time again. O.o  I haven't written one of these in about a month I think but this prompt was.... delicious?  Idk.  This one is retreating back to.... rambling on and on about nothing and having no real purpose.  >.< But, it is something different than zombies and rabbits.    And by the way, my harddrive is on the way out.  I got the Blue Screen of Death earlier.  So if I disappear, that's why.  *headesk*

(I'm a fake cut to the drabble comm, wheeee)

And in other news, I have to buy a dress tomorrowO.O  that's right.  a dress.  Be prepared.  This shit is going to get beserk up in herrr.

White.

I don't understand why people have to be so... closeminded, especially when it comes to music.  I hate arrogance.  With a passion.  I understand wanting to defend your type of music... but lording it over someone and calling it superior does not a happy me make.  I don't care if you think the music I like is weird, or emo, or has pretty boys singing about loving one another.  Stop telling me about it.  It's annoying.  Nine Inch Nails is not god.  For the love of christ.  I feel like I just committed blasphemy there.  Bleeeh.  Whatever.

We have to be out by August.  Spiffy.  I have a million and thirteen decisions to make before then.  I'm feeling all out of ends lately.  Friday was bad.  School's over.  And I kicked my final paper's ass for my women's history class.  Kicked it in the ass.  Hello A that was formerly a borderline C.  Welcome to the fold.  :p

And...I really forget what else I was going to say. :/  It was important.  Oh.  Richard Adams.  You and Watership Down.  We'll see about you soon, mister.
